My digital shower pump has started making a very loud noise. It is a new pump but has lasted only about 18months.
Can I ask someone to have a listen to the attached video (see link) and see what you think.

Is it the pump that needs replacing?
What would have caused it fail so quickly?
Thanks

You can see the brushes arcing and it might be them making the noise. Could also be a bearing but I don't think so. Remove the brushes and clean them and the holders and make sure they move freely in and out when you put them back but before you fit the springs. If that doesn't work you may have to strip it further.
As to why it has happened I don't know. Is it in a dusty envoironment

Thanks for the reply.
Not dusty at all. It's sealed within it's own case which in turn is 'sealed' inside of the wall at the rear of the shower itself. I remove a panel to access it.
We do live in a hard-water area, we have residue on the shower screens. I'm wondering if this would cause these problems. Are the bearing 'lubricated' by the water running through it?
