Noisy Pipes

Whenever we flush our WC, if one of the bathroom taps is then turned on, we get a loud booming hum from the water pipes. Sometimes the simple act of flushing is enough to start it off. I suspect it may be to do with the water pressure, but I'm not sure.

Any ideas?
