Hi,
Hoping someone can suggest a cause/solution.
I live in a property with pretty old plumbing. The ballcock on the water tank was replaced and since then I have been having problems. If the tank is refilling and the mains fed water is used in the kitchen, when I turn the tap off, I am getting a knocking noise at the tap. The washing machine is cold fed from the same pipe work and a similar noise is heard there, with water being forced through the inlet valve, even when the machine is not in use. Once the water tank is filled, the noises stop.
I attach files of a) the washing machine noise. The sound at the beginning is the water being forced through the inlet valve at a point in the cycle when no water should be entering. A few seconds in, the machine starts its cycle, hence the additional noise. b) the oddly behaving ballcock.
It does seem like two things need to be occurring at the same time - the tank refilling without mains water usage in the kitchen doesn’t cause a problem.
The plumber has tried another ball cock mechanism, but the problem remains. He doesn’t understand what the issue is, hence this post.
Thanks in anticipation.
Unfortunately I have tried and failed to add videos - something to do with the latest update to my iPad hiding the vids though I can see them in the photo file when I go in directly from the icon - I give up.
