Dear all,

When I flush my toilet lately I get a loud groaning noise within the floor as it fills back up. Is this water hammer?

Do I need to replace the diaphram/flapper valve.

Any ideas please?

Paul

Try the float valve washer first and then the float valve.

Will not be the flapper. :D

As the arm of your float valve rises, you will see it presses against a valve shutting off the water.
Where this valve is, there is a large round nut that unscrews exposing the washer. Take this washer out and renew, or renew the whole valve if it does not cure the problem.

You will get a soaking if you do it live though so turn off your water. :D
