Hello all,

I seem to have a problem with my Worcester 24CDI. When we're running the hot water for any length of time - e.g. a bath then the burner light goes out and then comes back on again a few seconds later. There is also a noise coming from the boiler during operation that sounds like a straining pump, but when I've taken the front cover off the boiler it doesn't seem to be coming from the pump, rather it's somewhere in the top of the boiler. Anyway occasionally it will make a noise like something is clanking away in there. Very odd.

I have changed something in the system recently - I put two radiators back into the system which have been off the wall in our front room while we were decorating. At some point during the refitting my other half went upstairs and heard the boiler screeching and it had both lights flashing, which from the manual I understand means the overheat cut off has been triggered. I guessed that this would be because the system was now under-pressurised due refilling the radiator (I've only refilled one of the two because I cleverly broke the spindle on the locksheild valve on one). Anyway, I topped up the system with water which seems to have stopped the screeching, however the noisy pump, occasional clanking and inconsistent hot water remains...

I've had a look through the service manual and the first step it suggests is to check the boiler is fully pressurised and air vented. Any ideas of how to go about this?

Many thanks for all your help in advance. I hope I've given all the required info. Let me know if not and I'll add what I can.

No ideas? I've spoken to my plumber who suggested making sure the air vent was clear and loosening the large screw on the pump to release any air. The former released a small amount of air and the later didn't release any unfortunately. The boiler seems to be better than before, but it's still not right...
