I have a putlog lying under my kitchen floor since c.1963 :rolleyes:
 
Thanks for that Nige, bit early for the old vino? Still, at least your memory's still not been too affected by all the booze.

Putlogs are them holes you see in the walls of derelict castles. The logs which went in them were used like joists. Scaffolders' "putlog ends" are often called Putlogs. Those are the flattened end things which you shove in a mortar gap. Vertical ones like where Critalls go.
