now What???

Could be faulty thermocouple, loose connection to it or something else but either way if it's affecting the pilot light then you need to get a boiler person in to check it over.

The Fuelsaver is a low content boiler. I can only re-iterate what Tony has said. If it is working (ie heating the h/w & c/h) then it may be a combustion issue. The boiler stat can be adjusted but thats a tricky issue for a DIYer. When was it last serviced?

You gas valve may be allowing gas to light back to the injector. A cause of noise, rumbling. (Like a light aircraft taking off.) Again, RGI territory Im afraid.

Thanks for your imput everyone, appreciated.just out of interest whats an explosive ignition :? thanks again janine

At one point Janine said the bumping starts after a hot tap had been used.

I am wondering if a motor valve while moving creates a situation where there if no flow for a few seconds?

That would need an expert to visit or some very good photos of the valves might give a clue.
