Hi all,

Can someone let me know what type of nut this is? It's quite a an architectural version of the hidden bolt but I'm struggling to find this hardware.

Thanks.

Yes, they look like a cam lock. I have only worked with them once. I had to lock an Iroko worktop to an Iroko end panel (
both 2" thick)

I used ones from Screwfix but had to do many mockups first.

Initially, I tried using a spade bit to drill the hole for the receiver. The hole was not accurate enough, as I inserted the round cam, the meeting edges would deviate.

I ended up paying about £7 for a Bosch lip and spur drill bit. The hole was perfectly sized. As I twisted the cam, there was no deviation.

Again, use the right sized drill bits and practice on some scraps of timber.

The parts from screwfix had no instructions. It took a few attempts to work out where the cam hole should be relative to the edge/end of the panel. if too short, when you twist the cam, it doesn't lock properly, too far, it doesn't lock properly.

A quick method for flat pack assembly, but one I try to avoid as the alloy cam part can all too easily break when trying to tighten sufficiently.

They are particular to that Dutch web site, unlike most cam fitting they are exposed and fit thru the frame rather than being screwed into one side.Doubt they will be available to purchase.
