I Osmo'd an oak veneer door at my previous house on the advice of UK Oak Doors, but Travis, Wickes, Howdens, all warn not to apply oil or wax as the veneer will delaminate.
One other issue is that if you cut through to the core (I did, thanks to misleading trim info) the thin oak veneer gives a jagged edge.
So we're thinking of going painted. Saw a chippy cutting through to the core the other day but had 5-6mm MDF facing on each side (Howdens) so nice smooth outer edge.
All doors will be next to oak flooring so we're thinking more oak (the doors) may be overkill. Plus we want to keep the interior as light as possible. Oddly, oak is cheaper than painted!
Anything else I've not thought of?
