Engineered Oak Doors

I bought an engineered Oak veneer interior door from B&Q almost two years ago, it dropped within 2 months of being fitted and on inspection the screws were pulling out of the door, a few screws have no traction at all and just spin. I recently had a kitchen fitted and asked the joiner whether the door was salvageable, he had a look and concluded that the problem was not down to the installation but the particle board that is used within the door, it is very soft and this is why the screws are pulling out - the actual wood on the edges is very thin.

The conclusion seems to be to get a new door, however when looking on google for a modern oak/glass door they seem to be all engineered and many make use of particle board within the construction, others offer no advice on the construction other than engineered. Even Howden's Oak Veneer doors us particle board and have only a thin strip of wood according to their door specifications.

Can anyone offer advice please:

Is particle board a problem best avoided?
Can anyone recommend a provider of engineered Oak doors that are more substantial?
How about solid oak doors, any recommendations for a modern looking internal door, a shaker style with 4 glass panels would be ideal?

The door may have been fitted incorrectly some doors have thicker timber on hinge side and a lock block for the handles, get it wrong and everything is loose.
Should be able to tap in wood plugs to screw holes with a little wood glue to repair yours.
