We've recently moved into a new house, and I've decided to run some cabling for some AV kit. I removed a section of floorboard in a cupboard upstair, and set about drilling downwards thru the ceiling into the room below.
Half way thru i realised "this aint normal" and stopped.
The swarf off the drill was a brown fibrous material, sort of like what you'd expect to see if you drilled thru hardboard...
Looking closer at the hole, there appears to be around 10mm of this brown fibrous layer, then theres a thin layer of perhaps 1-2mm of much harder white material, which looks much more like normal plaster.
I've never seen asbestos boarding before, so i've no idea if thats what i'm looking at, or if its some other material.
The house was built in the 50's, so asbestos is possible?
Pic (albeit not very good) of the partially drilled hole:

Any thoughts?
