I'm thinking of replacing the insulation in my loft. The stuff that's there is a kind of dark grey / brown colour, it looks like rolled fibre-glass but I thought that was usually yellow. Anybody know what this stuff is? It's possibly been in the house for a few decades.

Yes, it sounds like the old kind of glass wool why not just cover it over, it's unlikely to be a problem,
I know it looks pretty repulsive, but if you feel you must replace it make sure you get the right kind of dust protection whilst doing it, and I don't mean 3 for 10pence decorators masks, anythig less that a £5er is just not going to do the job.
