odd lump come up in middle of carpet

Morning All,

Bit of an odd one this, but last night I noticed that a small pencil sized lump had appeared in the middle of my carpet.

It's hard but seems farily loose in that if I press one end down the other pops up a bit higher. Any ideas what it might be?

I've lived in the house for 3 years now and it's never been there before!!!

Do you know if the subfloor is concrete, floorboards or possibly woodblock flooring?

think it's floorboards but I'm not 100% sure to be honest - will check tonight.

Any small pets (mice/lizards) gone missing?

HaHa! none that I know of!!!

It's only about the same size as a pencil or pen laying flat under the carpet - so around 1 cm high, 1 cm wide and 10cm long.

Any ideas?
