My request for people to try an experiment has been removed, and another post where I linked to it has been edited to remove the link.

One might be forgiven for thinking that people have somethng to hide, mightn't one, Mr Moderator JohnD?

 Conspiracies!!

Your 'experiment' topic was removed because it was asking other users to try something that was obviously broken rather than alerting us to the fact so that it could be remedied. The other link in the Electrics UK topic was removed because it was no longer valid after the Forum Information post was removed. You'll note that the references to JohnD were not altered.

As it happens the 'ignored' user is not the problem in this case it was a problem with the caching of ignored users list per user and how the cache was flushed (or not) after updates, sometimes the list was reset and other times it wasn't.

I don't suppose that'll quench the thirst of the conspiracy theorists out there but that's the somewhat boring truth!

Bas,
Your ignore a mod theory is flawed in as much as it doesn't work. You can put a mod on your ignore list, if you have one  Why not just laugh at the mod(s) that gives you the hump or

I meant ignore the user who you believe to be a Mod.

What we were seeing (not just me) was that ignoring the posting user ID of a Mod did not cause his posts to become hidden.

Maybe it was a problem with the caching of the ignored users list per user which was affecting more than one ignorer but only with one specific ignoree being added to the list. Adding other users at the same time worked instantly, which implies that the problem was not as simple as the list not being flushed, somehow only part of the list was getting flushed. And that's very odd behaviour.

Or maybe it wasn't a caching bug....

Try and ignore sparky mod, you can, but it's better to..........
