Hi To All
Changed the oil twice before in my 06 / 1.3 diesel Combo Van and all went well.
This time I started it up and the 2.5 liters gushed out in like 5 sec. I immediately shut

down and thought I had not tighten the plastic oil filter cover, I kicked myself. :eh

So bought some more oil and I just started the van for 1 sec. and about a liter came out.

Right where the plastic cap meets the metal oil filter housing.

So far I think ...
1.) "O" ring in wrong notch
2.) Plastic Cap needs some mysterious positioning alignment
3.) The plastic guard rail that the top spring sets into needs replacing, even though Im

sure I seated the top spring to the guard rail flush.

The large 'O' ring is in the wrong notch - it needs to be in the next notch down.
Smear some grease on the ring, and gently tighten down.
John :)

Also should have said:
The drain down arrow usually points to a gap in the filter housing....when a filter is inverted, (ala Transit) you don't take the bowl off until the oil has drained from this gap. I don't think this is relevant on your system, however it will allow air in to drain the housing when the sump plug is out.
The spring in the filter housing is the pressure reliief valve which opens if the pressure is too high - saves splitting the filter element.
Can't comment on the cracked bit - sorry!
John :)

Hey thanks for your help.
Im gonna get a new O ring tomorrow, I have tortured that one enough.

I was so shocked when all the oil gushed out and didn't trust my own memory.

The cracked bit fits on top of the oil filter, between the cracked bit and the inside top of the plastic housing is a spring that holds the cracked bit to the filter.

Im gonna get a new uncracked bit also.
Thank you once again.... jack

I dont think you can buy a new uncracked bit, have to get a whole new top! On the + side the new filter cap will prob come with a new O ring :D

I going to the Opel dealer for the cracked bit, I have seen the price posted at about 25 euro from dealer. I was hoping this might be an eBay purchase but I had a feeling I was on the way to the dealer.
I need to buy a new to filter to get the O ring ASAP.
Thanks for your input... Jack

I did go today and get a new filter which was the only way to get the O ring.
And bought a 32mm socket for the plastic bolt on top of the housing.
I asked the service manager at Opel what notch the O ring belonged in and to my amazement he knew and told me.
I feel 100% confident that I will have the van running Sun.
Thanks again ...jack
