I got some skirting & facing from a mate, he has Danish oiled it.

What i'm reading, i need to use a polyurethane varnish over the oil ?

See once it has a coat of the polyurethane varnish, can i give it a wee sand down and use a normal water based varnish for a second coat?
 
Most anything that says "Wash brushes in white spirit" will work fine.
