Hi guys after some advice please.

I have an old garden wall which has been left exposed the elements for a few years allowing moisture to penetrate and weeds to grow. I’m currently relaying the top course of stone with the aim of laying slabs on top to seal it. The wall about 375mm wide. A few questions if I may:
1) top of the wall is not level, would it be acceptable to lay a bed of mortar to level it and allow that to dry then lay slabs on top with fresh mortar?
2) I’m thinking of using 900x600mm slabs and cutting them in half to get 450x600 which should give me a good 50mm overhang on each side. Does this seem reasonable?
3) Would I need to create a drip slot in the slabs?

Many thanks for any advice guys.

Better still, use proper coping stones. They are available from all good builders' merchants or B&Q.

Thanks for the responses guys. Proper coping stones look great on a brick wall but this is an old stone wall. I think new coping stones would look out of place against the old stone wall.

Any comments on my queries?

Nothing wrong with cutting slabs down and adding a drip if you're prepared to put the work in and can do a nice clean cut.
