Old Loft Insulation

'ello all. Removing a replacing insulation from my loft, there's some fairly recent space roll and these strange black blocks a bit like the texture of breeze blocks but flater and seemingly moulded to the width of the eaves. Can anyone let me know what they are actually made of? Thanks All.

Could be some form of truss chute/vent baffle to allow ventilation in from the eaves/soffits.
A picture of them may help.

Yes, it woul;d have helped but they have gone to the dump so nio longer available. Sorry!
