THe standby batteries in my old (post 1995 with large box control panel) Wickes burglar alarm need replacing. I do not have the instruction manual as this unit was installed by the previous occupant of my house. Can anyone help me with the following.
1. Where are the standby batteries likely to be?
2. How do I prevent the tamper alarm going off whilst I remove the cover assuming they are located under one of the covers (either in the control panel box or the main exterior alarm unit)?

Every time we have a power cut the alarm goes off and I cannot stop it because the panel goes dead.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The standby battery is in the big box. Undo the cover and the tamper will sound. Enter your code to stop it. Change the battery and put it back together. Then reset it - job done.

We have already had one power cut today and thanks to you our neighbours did not have to put up with the wail of our alarm in addition to suffering a loss of light, TV, heating etc.
Many thanks!!
