Due to the tight spaces i can't cut the pipe. I have managed to unsolder a stopcock. There's a film of solder on the pipe i can't get off, so can i get away with fitting a connex joint over it? The new fitting and olive goes the film of solder.

By that I presume you mean soft table Y, i.e. coils.
Table Y is available in soft coils AND half-hard lengths.

Well I have learned something new today.
In 40 years of plumbing I have only ever seen table Y in soft copper coils for underground use.
I would imagine its cost would be prohibitive to use in lengths above ground.
just the usual copper as far as i can tell.
Normally used for higher pressure and temperature parameters, pressurised steam, for example. Would normally be used with Yorkshire GHD (General High Duty) fittings or similar.
GHD fittings have an integral ring of silver bazing alloy.
