one ceramic hob not working

Hi i went to look at a ceramic hob and one of the plates was not working i don't usually do apliances and before i strip out the oven to get at the hob does anyone know what the cause could be? The owner said that at one point water boiled over from a pan on to it and now when they switch it on it trips the electric.

Any help is greatly appreciated

It has to come out regardless...Call qualified assistance or remove it & hand it in to your nearest domestic appliance workshop for repair.
