I'm considering shifting where the sky cable comes in so that I don't have to run it along a wall in sight. I was going to run the coaxial TV cable with it at the same time and just have them coming in the same hole, is it OK to do this or is it better to drill a hole for each?

Thanks, that was my next question. I was simply going to fill the hole with silicone - that seems to be what is used normally? Those plates look like they could channel more water down the back after time?

Is it OK to just plug the old holes with mortar?

I don't know which "plates" you are referring to.
I've used the "brick burst covers" with the adhesive, as shown, and they've been watertight so far. I'm not keen on silicone alone because it does absorb moisture and it does break down in time because of the action of wind, rain and especially ultraviolet light.

Plugging the holes with mortar should be fine if you mix it correctly.

I have used original* "Blu-Tack" for plugging holes and it lasts for years. You can even disguise it by pressing brick dust into its surface.

*It must be the genuine, original stuff. The copycat stuff hardens and cracks.
