Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.
Since having combi boiler installed one 3 metre long radiator makes loud rythmic banging noises as system heats up and cools down. No previous trouble over 27 years!! Any ideas? Would shorter radiator do the trick?
have you checked that the TRV is fitted on the correct end of radiator? this can cause irritating noises from radiator. Should be fitted on the flow pipe..ie. the end that heats first.
Not necessarily so, gasgirl. Most TRVs are now bidirectional, and even those that aren't can be fitted on the return if the valve is oriented in the right direction.
Nevertheless a good point about TRVs, but since the noise occurs only during heating up and cooling down, it doesn't really look like a TRV generated noise.
