I have acquired a property but discover that up and downstairs sockets are all on a single ring circuit. What is the best way to convert to a separate ring circuit for each floor. I believe I need to do this as some equipment causes the fuse to trip off.
depends on how its wired. it could be all upstairs in spurred from down or vice versa, upstairs is wired on a ring then downstairs then back to CU. youll have to find out how its wired before doing anything.
if upstairs is wired then downstairs, simply find the cable between up and down and re direct it to the CU making 2 rings. if you do this, make sure that the rings are split properly and none upstais are live when only the downstairs is on
