Hi, I'm new here so go easy on me,
I currently have a plastic open drain, that leads straight to my man hole, I intend to run my kitchen sink into this, does this comply with building regs, or do I have to change it to a stack and boss type fitting,
The drain has no air lock just an elbow and straight to the drain?
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks in advance.

That seems like a rain water drain not foul, so you can't put your sink into it.

If that was a foul drain with no trap, then you would certainly be smelling it.

Thanks for your reply
It's definitely through the foul pipe as it's about 3mtrs away from the man hole and have poured water down it to check.

If its a foul drain then you can connect to it. But all foul drains should have a trap or top seal to prevent smells coming out. Whether you do that is up to you.
