open vent to sealed system

Hi all

I currently have an open vented system using a potterton profile 60e boiler (which works just fine at the moment)

My questions are-

is it possible to convert the system to a sealed type?

if so what is involved in doing the job?

Is it worth it considering system works fine as is?

replacing f&e tank with a suitable exp vess and safety valve etc

Yes its possible, but don't bother: unless that is you have too much time on your hands, like aggro (ie. either doing it yourself or finding someone competent enough to do it) and want to throw away good money in the middle of a scarey recession!

The system you have works well in several million homes. Leave well alone!

the advantage of a sealed system is that the only way air can get into the system is through a leak! but as your system is working ok, leave it as it is!!

to change, you'd need to drain, cut out the cold feed and vent to the header tank and remove the header tank. cap off the tees. add an expansion vessel with a combined prv/filling loop!

I assume the profile 60 has a built in overheat cut out?

If not you cannot change the system to sealed.
