Hello,
Last night our alarm has started triggering. It appears to be when we turn room lights off. It has happened from several rooms in the house. If you turn the light back on again, then off it doesn't happen, then another room a bit later sets it off.

Can anyone suggest any solutions (including disconnecting it -if so, how?).

I know the battery is probably knackered, but it has been for ages. The alarm was in the house when we bought it but we are not really bothered about the alarm so don't set it.

Additionally, we are about to put the house up for sale so I am reluctant to invest heavily in it.

Many thanks

Cheapest and easiest solution is to replace the battery , 2.1Ah from Screwfix or CEF etc , around £10.

Denford,
It's worth a tenner to rule this out & shut the thing up when the power goes off.

Just had a look & found that the battery was not connected so not been charging! Given that we've been here 8 years, presumably the battery is shot?

Also, it is a Challenger 1.9Ah jobby. Screwfix et al do 1.2 & 2.1/2.3Ah at the same dimensions. I would tend to go up in capacity rather than down which I would not expect to cause any problems?

Cheers

Thanks for the reassurance. I'll swap the batteries & see how I get on from there.

Hi, if you change the battery and still have problems, you may have a spider or other insect in one of your PIR's. disconect the main power fuse, inside alarm box, disconect battery, then go around each pir and clean inside, I had a small spider inside one of my pir's, the b****dy thing liked coming out just a day light in summer.
Regards
