I have opened up my Optima XM to replace the battery and followed the 'power up reset' instructions in the engineer manual, but the attack light won't go off.

The manual says that it wont go to Day if there is a Tamper or PA fault, so does this mean I have a problem with the bell box? It certainly worked fine when I attached the new battery (both the bell and strobe worked).

did you fit a link wire to the PA and set to reset the alarm if you did then you will need to put the link wire back in the PA AND PRESS THE RESET

if it worked fine befoe, chance are a wire from the PA terminal has come adrift inside the panel, have another looksee.
