Our house (c. 1900's) is built with the upstairs bedrooms within the roof space so the bedrooms have coombed ceilings. There is still a small attic space (about 7 foot high at the ridge).
I have already put in new insulation on top of the existing on the ceiling joists - I may put in more at 90 degrees - what is the optimum depth?
I was also considering about trying to insulate the coombs, ie between the lathe & plaster and the roof structure as the coombs sometimes feel cold. There would be enough space to slip, say, polystyrene slabs down this space, but I am concerned about potential condensation?
If the gap is 45mm, would a 30mm slab of polystyrene be okay? would this give any benefit?
thanks
