Looking for advice....

We have an upstairs concrete floor which needs raising/levelling to match the adjoining timber floor (floor boards). The "raised" floor will then be floor tiled.

The floor area is 3m x 2.5m

3m x 1.5m area has a depth of 10mm
3m x 1m area has a depth of 40mm

I have been looking at the various levelling compounds but the general rule of thumb seems to be 1 sq-m @ 1mm thk = 1.7kg (then 20 kg @ approx. £20).

Therefore I'd be looking at 15 tubs (aka £300!!!)

There must be a better (more cost-effect) solution - is there??

Repair Mortars or Base Coats can be used to bulk the level at reduced cost, then finish with the more expensive self levelling finishing screed.
