It's good, better than, but not omg good.

Personally I don't find white spirit very good, and generally I bin the brushes as soon as I've finished when painting with oil based paint or varnish.

If between coats I wrap the brush in cling film till the job is complete, doing this normally makes the brush last a few weeks

if you're using oil based gloss or undercoat, suspend the brushes by their nail in a jar of paraffin.

Work them about when you take them out the next day, and rub off to dry on newspaper or kitchen roll.

the paraffin breaks down the paint and it falls out. Not the same as white spririt, and much better.

in the jar you will see the paint falling off the bristles and collecting as sediment at the bottom.

you can pour the paraffin off the sediment and use it again, but it takes a long time for the sludge to get deep enough to bother.
