Hi, we have an outdoor drain grid type jobbie that has got blocked a couple of times now, I stupidly decked over the top of it but still have access if required. Little stones and some soil end up in there because the ground level is higher than the grid. I scooped everything out and it’s clear now but want to avoid it happening again. There is a plastic grid covering it and the kitchen waste goes into this grid. Is there a reason I can’t cover it up with a solid cover instead of the grid please? Or buy an extension that raises it up above the soil level? Thanks.

Fit one of these:
