Outside lights

We have a 1.5 cable running into the garage from a switch inside the house.
I want to put some lights around the fence in the garden operated from the inside switch.I assume i will need a box of some decription either in the garage or outside to make the connection.
Any help regarding wiring,connections,boxes, cable types would be greatly appreciated.

Hi not at home till week end but 1.5 twin & earth at switch

That doesn't answer my question.
Twin and earth is often used in switch drops to carry voltage to the switch and voltage from the switch to a light fitting. What does the switch currently operate ?

It is a 2 gang,1 operates 2 x outside wall lights the other is to operate the fence lights but is not connected at the switch yet as it is a new cable which was installed when wall was plastered,hope that makes sense

Wrong size. 1.0mm is sufficient. But you can’t use twin and earth for fence lights anyway. Let us know about the neutral.

Not really wrong is it?

It is oversize, costs more, and is more difficult to work with.

But it's already there, also my house lighting is wired in 1.5mm, do I need a rewire?
