Outside security light

I have bought a pir controled security light (150 W) to fit to the back of my house, can I simply put a plug on the end of the cable(2.5mm) or do I have to put in a fused socket off the ring main or exsisting socket.

as it is only 150 watt you can put a flex on it and yes you can plug it in via a plug.
