Want to replace my outside tap but not sure whether the existing one has a check valve or not. Am looking at the Screwfix one on P462 of the catalogue.
I wouldnt. Always put the check valve inside. The ones with the check valves built in are s**t. Come winter it will freeze and either render the check valve useless or youll turn the tap on and no water will come out. Unless its very well insulated this will happen!

Which is exactly what a plumber at the screwfix counter told me. To be honest, I didn't even know what a check valve was and if I had, I would have known that we did have one inside. Anyway the one 'without' has been bought and fitted and all is well.
