hi, about 6-7 years ago we had an Ariston Genus 27 Plus (BFFi) fitted. It is a large combination boiler with a copper storage tank built into it. Now, for the first 3-4 years it seemed to work as it should, however during the past year or so it has had a few problems...

it tends to work correctly on hot water only, but when you flick on the heating circuit, the boiler fires up and the pump runs, but only about 5 rads seem to warm up. it then occured that the pressure relief is opening regularly and half of the heated water is getting blasted outside. an engineer said that the expansion vessel could be perforated, so he replaced it.... (that was 3 months ago) but it is now doing it again!!!!

also, when the heating mode is running, the water at the hot tap is ridiculously hot...maybe 80-90 degrees. it could be that when the boiler keeps kicking in to compensate for the lost heated water, it is heating the DHW at the same time.... which in turn, is bringing up the temperature at the hot tap.... we have also heard that this ariston model is rubbish and has now been upgraded.....

any ideas guys????
