I have 4 100mx100m galv steel columns to pack due to a footing being out of level.
The columns have a base plate of 300mmx300mm, and are on the 4 corners of a structure. These support an orangery style roof, and the internal walls will be tied to these. The columns are around 2500mm high.
I need to pack upto 40mm, and if I can I will use some galv shims.
Failing that what could I use?
I thought about slate, but is 40mm too much?
What about a concrete flag, made up with slate where needed?

Any advice welcome

Cheers

A granno slab will have some serious crushing strength provided it sits perfectly with the steel and concrete. You may need to bed it on strong mortar.

Failing this then there is nowt better than metal packers.
