Hi. I have recently bricked-up an old fireplace and the room has been plastered. The plasterer said the bonding & plaster on the fireplace area was quite thick, so will take a while to dry. After three weeks, the area is showing 30% on a moisture meter (the rest of the room dried fully in about 5 days and has been painted). I am not sure whether to paint it as usual (wash coat, then solid white, then colour), to put an initial coat of Zinsser on before the emulsion, or wait for it to fully dry. Is there a recommended moisture reading before painting? Any advice will be gratefully received, as she is getting a bit frustrated!

Paint damp fresh plaster?

Do not paint until it has dried, a thick spread can take 6 weeks or more to dry out.
