I used Dulux satinwood previously (after primer and undercoat) but found that it was "sticky" for months afterwards. This meant that whatever we placed there would stick and leave marks on the surface.

I don't want a shiny gloss finish.

Q. what do you recommend and have you experienced the above?

Thanks in advance

Is it waterbased satinwood? If so, go for the oil based version next time.

aha...Yes, i think it was water based. Does the stickiness make sense in that case?

Just clean and lightly sand the existing satinwood to provide a key. You will then be able to apply the OB satinwood straight over the top. As you are probably aware, OB paints take longer to reach touch dry. I use Terebene, it is an oxidising agent to speed up the curing process. It is about £6 for a bottle but you are only adding a small amount to the paint so it lasts for ages.

Do not worry about the fact that it is blue, it doesn't alter the paint colour.

Oh, forgot to add that OB paints will yellow if used in very dark rooms that have little or no natural light.

My personal preference is eggshell, it is slightly more matt than satinwood and marginally easier to work with.
