Just had our fireplace rendered with hydraulic lime render, having a stove fitted. Ready to paint shortly, was looking at metallic copper paint by crown, but have read should use breathable paint.

Two questions, what will happen if we use the metallic paint which I am guessing is not breathable? And can we add anything to the copper paint to make it more breathable?

My wife is very keen to use the copper paint!

I would have thought you'd lose all breathability.
If you look on that site I mentioned they also do a metallic pigment, you can mix and match the pigments. It does take a bit of trial and error.
Drop them a line and ask.
