Recently I was painting some walls and, although I did put drop cloths down, I still managed to track a bit of white paint on to the floor, which is an oil-finished engineered wood. I tried to clean it up while it was still wet, but afterwards I realised I'd spread some of it around. I now have a very faint, diffuse stain. I've tried cleaning it with hot water and floor soap, and I think it helped a bit but despite several attempts I can't get rid of the pale patch. The paint is water-based. Is there anything else I can try?
