Hi there,

I have recently bought some old cast iron stair spindles. I am looking to srip them of there old and chipped paint so I can reprint them.

What am I best off using? Ive been told caustic soda but have heard some not nice stuff about it. Is there a safer option?

Thanks,

Ash

Be careful as the spindles may have been painted with lead paint. In this instance a chemical stripper would be best. The problem is that the formulations have changed and they are not as good as they used to be. I tend to use mangers paint stripper now as I don't see the reason to pay more for nitromors as it is no better than any of the others!
