Paint Stripping

This may be a stupid question, but how do you strip paint from plastered walls? Is the only way to scrap away!!!
 
I think it is either emulsion or silk/satin? Comes off quite easily with a scrapper, but some bit are tough!
 
Personally, id take off all the bad stuff, seal the whole wall with water based sealer such as Zinsser, Zamix or Dulux stain block, fill around the edges of the paint you have scraped off and then line/double line the whole lot

Oh and use a filling knife to scrape it...the thinner blade gets under the paint film better.
