Hi to everyone.

Had an artexed ceiling skimmed 3 weeks ago and am ready to paint it. Have just bought a tin of Dulux pure brilliant white matt ( not trade ) will i get a reasonable finish with this using it for mist coat and a couple of top coats or should i have gone for something better. Also it says on the tin to use 10% water for the mist coat when i thought it would have been nearer 50%.

Thanks
Andy

I usually use cheapo own brand white matt for mist coats but have also used Dulux matt when it’s been on special; it’ll do fine. Thinning 50% is way too much but 10% is a little thick IMO. I thin 25-30% & apply 2/3 coats in quick succession before each has a chance to dry out too much; leave overnight until fully dry then apply your chosen finish.

Thanks Richard, so it is ok to use the same paint for mist coat and top coats.

Yes as long as it's matt emulsion; you must use thinned matt for mist coats.
