Painting a straight line where two terraced houses meet

Good morning all!

Looking for some advice of how to paint a straight line on a external wall where two terraced houses meet. I have read using painters masking tape or drawing a faint line. I have done all the prep work, eg. filling cracks. Its my first time attempting to do this so any advice would be of great help.

chalk plumbline, snap it against the wall and you have a vertical line.

I chalk lined once but you cant brush right up to the edge (because of the chalk), in that respect pencil is better.

I use a 5 ft spirit level and a thick nibbed pencil. Guaranteed a perfect straight line.

That great...I agree with you too...pencil can do for more guaranteed a perfect straight line.

I used duct tape when rendering our back garden to create a clean split between the semi-detach. Worked really well!
