I'm planning to put a free-standing wood burner into a house and I wondered if I needed to use any special fire-retardant paint on the wall behind the burner? Its a solid brick wall with plaster and flues will be exposed before they go into a chimney on the upstairs floor all lined etc so we are all fire-proof with the materials. These modern stoves don't give much heat off the flues but it is the area behind the fire I am wondering about. I did plan to put some tiles but with budget pressures I wondered if I could get away with just painting the wall? Any advice out there? Thanks

Emulsion should be fine but it could still yellow off with the heat, but at least it wont catch fire.
