The brickwork at the rear of my house has been painted, over the years the paint has flaked/eroded off on the end of the building, i plan to repaint it this summer but would like to know if i need to do any special prep work to the bricks before painting, or do i just wire brush off the loose stuff and paint with masonary paint

Remove loose paint, mould, moss etc..
and use a paint that complies to BS6150: 1991: Code of practice and you should be okay.
