Hi,
I need to repaint an area of external render. For now I don't intend to paint the whole wall, I plan to remove the flaking paint and then repaint the area with white masonary paint. I have included a picture of the wall below. Does it look like I need to do anything else to the area before painting? (any priming or sealing for example).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Scrape off loose paint, make good and a coat of Stabilising Solution would not go amiss

Thanks. I'm got the loose paint off and will be applying a coat of stabilising solution.

As I was taking the loose paint off, some of the sealant between the wood and the render came away too.

What do you reckon is the best thing to replace it? (the gap left is probably 1cm wide and about 1cm deep).

Might be easier to paint everything to a finish first, then seal up the gaps with exterior sealant.
