I have a large statue in the garden which appears to be cast iron.It is a dark grey/green colour which I am told is the origional "patina" However it is rusting badly and I would like to restore it.
Is ther a specialist finish or paint I should use, I have looked at Hamerite but can't find the correct colour.
Thanks

Make sure you treat/remove the rust first

If you use the correct primer, red oxide or zinc phosphate you can paint it with whatever you want after that...well except emulsion obviously

Thanks for reply. What I need is a source of specialist finish to match the origional dark grey/green semi gloss finish.I think gloss or regular diy colours will look naff!
Anybody know who manufactures it?

If you can move it, get it shotblasted to remove all the rust, and get it painted with 2 pack epoxy paint, at an industrial paint shop.
The paint shop can order whichever colour you select, and this finish will last years.
Its the same paint as used on tractors/dumper trucks etc.

If you search for powder coaters in your area, they will point you in the right direction.
