I want to paint some panels of my wired glass conservatory roof externally but do not wish to use specialist glass paint as sold in artists shops due to the cost. I appreciate that whatever I paint it with will eventually peel or wear off with the weather so I am not expecting miracles but if it lasts for 6 months I'll be happy. I vaguely remember using ordinary solvent based gloss paint on glass many years ago and am wondering if someone can confirm this or perhaps, suggest some other widely available paint.

PS In case you ask, I am unable to paint the inside!!

Are you after a transparent finish?
If not then any exterior trade quality gloss such as weathershield or stronghold will work & last a lot longer than 6 months . Wipe the glass with meths or cellulose thinners to de-grease first ;)

Many thanks for your replies. I thought somehow that trade gloss was what I used in the past, so I will use it again. Cheers :D
